We got a call from the post office this morning... around 7:00... informing us that our baby chicks had arrived and we could come get them! So, after Daddy was off to work and Clara and Mommy had done a few things and got ready, we were off to claim our little fluff balls.
We carried them out of the post office, sat down on a brick wall and opened them up. There they were. All bunched together and peeping away... as we had already been hearing! Clara was quite taken with the "babies". :-)
Now they are home and situated in their box with food, water and a light. Clara enjoys standing there watching them and playing with their food. She will hold them, but just for a short time before handing them back to Mom. One time she was standing there watching and started clapping... I think one of them had done a jump or something "impressive"! :-)
And here they are! If you blow the picture up, by clicking on it, you may be able to see one in the middle that is kind of a mixture of yellow and brown. That's our one turkey! Thanksgiving, here we come! :-) Unless, of course he makes too much of a nuisance of himself... them he may add something unique to say... 4th of July dinner! :-) When I first opened the box, I thought that maybe they hadn't sent the turkey, as they all looked so similar, but before long I was a able identify this little guy as a little different. Besides the turkey, we ordered 5 broiler chickens and 10 layers. However, unless I'm counting wrong, there appears to be an extra layer.
And now, for my favorite picture of the day...

That last pic is classic. So sweet! We have enjoyed raising chicks (and other fowl) since we moved to our current home. It is quite an experience and often entertaining! :-)
Soooo Darling! Brings back memories! Eight more days!!!!! :) Mom F.
Too cute!! Anna ran out to my office to make sure I had noticed the new blog pictures for the day!
Oh you got your chicks!! Exciting! They are so cute! But Clara Bell blows them away! These pictures are so adorable! :) --Sherry
Love the last pic too! I enjoyed the chicks coming in to the post office; they kept me company and reminded me not to take things as seriously, because I thought that the office could just as easily be a chicken pen. One time I was serving at the counter, and some roosters started crowing!
