We were so very blessed today! Our very good friends from the chapel hosted a Memorial Day picnic today at their home, which doubled as a baby shower for Hilkiah! We had such a wonderful time, eating delicious food, enjoying the company of a whole group of wonderful friends both from our chapel and another one in the area, and being showered with very generous gifts for our little guy! The Lord Jesus has richly blessed us through the believers here!
That was this afternoon. This morning, an event of a TOTALLY different nature took place at our house. The picture below is of the very appropriate shirt Stephen chose to wear for said event. So, who can be the first person to leave a comment with the correct guess of what this event was??!!! Take a good look at the shirt and happy guessing! :-)
And before I go, a few cute pictures from the last few days. As you can see, Clara's been getting into posing for pictures! :-)
Don't forget to leave your guess about the event of the morning!

The Two Munchkins Today
The little fellow, looking so cute and happy! Oh, and while I'm thinking of it... Jess had asked in a comment if Hil was a red head. He definitely seems to have some red. This picture makes him look really red! He's kind of a brown/blonde/red mix. It will be interesting to see what happens as he gets older. Clara's hair started out much darker then Hil's.
And on a totally different note... the poor girl was left to entertain herself too much today as Mommy did this, that and the other thing. And the following picture is the result of one of those entertain-yourself-sessions.
It had been too quiet for too long... and this is what I found. A little girl had gotten into Mommy's make-up and given herself a makeover. She had applied lipstick and mascara by the time she was discovered. I had to turn my back and smother the humor of it. And yes, she did get in trouble... but I also had to snap some pictures.
I'm thankful she didn't damage her eyes in the process! And tomorrow... I need to give her more focused attention! Oh, and is that REALLY what I look like after a make-up session???!!!! :-)

This Week
It's been a special and full week, enjoying time with my parents, a visit from our friend Quyen, and experiencing life with two little people! Our new little package is doing well. He's a little sweetie and is eating well and letting us get at least some sleep at night. :-) Actually, in that regard he really is doing quite a good job. He sleeps quite well the first part of the night and then seems to get more unsettled or restless after 4:30 or 5:30.
Today Mom shot a bunch of family pictures! Here are a few, including a funny one! Enjoy!

Our Precious Boy
Yes, pictures, finally! Thank you for the patience - particularly all of you long distance family! The ones above are more recent ones, but I will try to post some from his first day on the outside, before too long. And I'll try to start working on a birth story account as well!
As for a brief update, Hil and I are doing well. We arrived home from the hospital yesterday (May 5th) in the early afternoon. Oh, and a minor correction from the previous post, Hil was born on the 4th, not the 5th. We are taking it easy and being well taken care of by Stephen and my Mom and some dear friends of ours still have Clara and will probably keep her through tomorrow.
Hilkiah was awake a bunch yesterday and seemed to think he was "starving" a good deal of the time. But other then the "starving" factor, he seems to be quite a content, laid back little fellow. And, of course, he is just so soft and kissable and previous!

Introducing...Hilkiah Knox Madgwick
Sorry, no pictures yet but Hilkiah Knox Madgwick was born on May 5th at 8:11am. He was born at home, but there were complications with both Hil and Momma so that they were both transported to the hospital. They are both doing well now.
A note about his name. Hilkiah means "portion of Jehovah". He is known for finding the book of the Law and giving it to Shaphan the scribe to give to King Josiah (2 Chron 34). Finding a book of the Law and telling someone about it doesn't seem like much, but I believe he was performing his duty as a priest. Josiah was turning from the wicked ways of his father's and "began to seek after the God of David his father." And it came to pass, when "the king had heard the words of the law, that he rent his clothes". This started a fresh pursuit for the Word and will of God. Josiah then celebrated the Passover in a way that was equal to when Solomon celebrated it. Hilkiah was also the great grandfather to Ezra, who were children of Aaron and his son Phinehas. In other words, It's a great family to come from.
Knox is from General Henry Knox of the revolutionary war who was one of Gen. Washington's right hand men, along with Gen. Nathaniel Green. Knox was 25 yrs old when he was promoted to Flag Rank. It's also the name of one of the Reformers, John Knox, from Scotland.
I pray Hil will be able to do the right thing in a wicked world as he walks with God.
Also, Hil's defining feature is his left foot. He has 6 toes on that foot and I will post a picture with this later. How beautiful are the feet of those that bring good news!
Welcome to the family Hil! We are glad to have you!

Two In May For Gracie May!
Well, folks, it would appear that our second born is going to join Clara in having May as their birthday month! Rather a fun thing, given my middle name! :-) My Mom was the one to pick up on that first, I believe. :-) How close those two birthdays will be to each other is yet to be determined, however.
Sometimes the Braxton Hicks seem a little different and I think "tonight may be the night"... and then it's not. So, on we go with another day. :-) I'm doing ok, though I seem to have a pinched nerve or something, and walking has become awkward and uncomfortable, though definitely not too bad. Sometimes, other movements, such as picking Clara up, can hurt too. But I have soooooo little to complain about compared to so many others.
Here are some fun pictures from a few nights ago. I got the idea I wanted to make cookies and freeze most of the dough... "nesting instinct", some might say. I would say it was more like "sugar instinct", with some "prep for when I don't feel like doing this instinct" as well as "prep for company instinct". :-) Anyway, Grandma, Clara and I worked as a team, which was great and we did a double batch of Snicker-doodles and another double batch of Date Pinwheels.
Pictures from along the way:
Grandma and Clara working on Snicker-doodles! Grandma was sooooooo patient, working with the little girl, teaching her to roll the cookies in the cinnamon sugar, and reminding her over and over and over to be gentle and not squish them, and rescuing and fixing those that were squished. Yay, for patient, loving, godly Grandmas!!!!
Nine months!

Goofy, goofy!!!!
